Decoding the Symbolism

The Base Wheel

The Base wheel with 12 outer spikes symbolizes the constant and dynamic availability of healthcare facilities for all sections of society.

The base color synchronizes with the soil of Bihar, reflecting a deep engagement with the people of the state.

12 Outer Spikes

These spikes render AIIMS Patna's attributes and aspirations for healthcare facilities in Bihar and the whole region. They represent the ethos and reason for the institution's establishment.

Golden Olive Leaves

Associated with sports and an active lifestyle, the golden olive leaves represent enthusiasm, joy, and victory.

The Caduceus & Serpents

The two Serpents entwined represent the “Stalk of Hermes” of Greek mythology. They denote the pineal and pituitary glands, while the stalk indicates the Spinal Column.

The wings signify the two hemispheres of the brain. The two serpents also signify the two shades of human existence physicians encounter - Life & Death.

"सर्वे सन्तु निरामयाः।"
सभी रोगमुक्त रहें
"May no one suffer from illness"

The Sanskrit motto establishes the principle goal and vision of AIIMS Patna. The last verse of Garuḍa Purāṇa (35.51) illustrates the whole idea of 'well-being of all', which is the interim idea of the establishment of the institution.
