The AIIMS Patna-BFI Incubation Centre (APBFI) is one of the seven Medical College Incubation Centres established under the Blockchain for Impact (BFI) programme. AIIMS Patna is among the selected medical institutions participating in this programme, with the Centre becoming operational in May 2026.
APBFI is committed to strengthening the healthcare innovation ecosystem by promoting collaboration among clinicians, researchers, MedTech and HealthTech innovators, startups, and industry partners. The Centre aims to accelerate the development of clinically relevant, evidence-based, tested, and scalable healthcare solutions, with a focus on translating innovative ideas into practical solutions for patient care and healthcare delivery.
The Incubation Centre is led by Prof. (Dr.) Sudeep Kumar, Professor, Department of Orthopaedics, AIIMS Patna, as the Principal Investigator (PI). Dr. Mousumi Saha, CEO, AIIMS Patna Incubation and Innovation Council (APIIC), serves as the Adviser of APBFI, supporting the Centre in strengthening its incubation, innovation, entrepreneurship, mentorship, and ecosystem development activities.
The Centre provides a platform for innovators to work closely with clinical experts and researchers, enabling access to mentorship, domain expertise, validation support, research collaboration, and opportunities for technology translation and scale-up.

Milestone Day for Healthcare Innovation at AIIMS Patna!
Mr. Naveen S., selected under the 1st Cohort of the AIIMS Patna – BFI Incubation Centre (APBFI), as part of the Medical College Incubation Centers Program. Smart foot- operated device for seated soleus activation, with physiological monitoring for vascular and metabolism health.
Dr. Mousumi Saha had the opportunity to attend the Two-Day Orientation Session for the Medical College Incubation Centre (MCIC) Program, held on 13–14 August 2026 at R&I Park, IIT Delhi, organized by Blockchain for Impact (BFI).
The programme brought together Medical College Incubation Centres to exchange experiences and learn best practices in incubation, innovation management, clinical translation, and ecosystem building. The visit to mPragati, IIT Delhi, was particularly insightful, highlighting opportunities to connect healthcare innovators with technical and product-development support. A valuable learning and networking experience that further strengthens the commitment to building a robust MedTech and Healthcare Innovation Ecosystem.
AIIMS Patna–BFI Incubation Centre supported by Block Chain for Impact (BFI), celebrated National Doctors’ Day at AIIMS Patna along with APIIC. The programme was attended by Prof. (Brig.) Dr. Raju Agarwal, Executive Director & CEO, AIIMS Patna and Chairman, APIIC, along with senior administrators, faculty members, researchers, innovators, startups, and students.
The event showcased the BFI Full Stack Innovation Program, which supports innovators from ideation to commercialization. The programme concluded with the felicitation of distinguished doctors, mentors, and faculty members for their contributions to healthcare, education, research, and innovation.
APBFI is delighted to share that we have received funding support from BlockChain for Impact (BFI) on 16th February 2026 at New Delhi for establishing a MedTech Incubation Centre at AIIMS Patna. The Letter of Intent was received by Dr. Sanjay Pandey (Dean Research), Dr. Sudeep Kumar (Professor, Orthopaedics & Principal Investigator), and Dr. Mousumi Saha (CEO, AIIMS Patna Incubation and Innovation Council), who will head the MedTech Incubation Centre.
The LOI was handed over in the presence of dignitaries from DST-TTI, Govt. of India, BFI officials, and representatives from IIT Delhi. This initiative strengthens our commitment to building a robust ecosystem for medical and healthcare innovators and startups, driving translational research and impactful MedTech solutions.
