Urology, also known as Genitourinary Surgery, is a surgical super-specialty that treats diseases of the kidneys, ureter, bladder, prostate, testes, penis, and urethra, as well as genital malformations. It also helps CKD patients by performing kidney transplants. The department also offers emergency Urology services such as renal colic, acute urinary retention, testicular torsion, penile fracture, priapism, genitourinary trauma, urosepsis management, and so on. Urology has become an innovative field of surgery where art truly meets technological innovations as a result of various technological advancements. We have recently begun Endo-Urology, Uro-Oncology, and Laparoscopic Urology services, in addition to general and open Urology.
The Urology department is on the third floor of the new OPD building. The department was established on August 18, 2018. On September 3, 2018, the department launched its first OPD service. Since then, the OPD has been open five days a week, from Monday to Friday. IPD services began on October 1, 2018, with the first patient operating on October 5, 2018. The vision is to provide comprehensive care to OPD and IPD patients while also establishing the department as a centre of excellence for urological academic training and research.
The department is actively seeking renal transplant services and robotic integration, as well as MCH seats for resident training, to add to its portfolio.
