Introduction

The Department of Dermatology is currently having two faculties, Dr Swetalina Pradhan and Dr. Rakhee Gupta. The OPD turnout is huge As it is visited by 350-400 patients/day on an average, besides an average number of 25 to 30 surgeries and procedures, per day, are carried out in minor OT. The department operates a ‘Surkhya Clinic’ in OPD area, which is managed by one STD counselor and a senior resident which provides Counseling and free ‘STD KITS’ to the visiting patients. Four ‘special clinics’ are also running in department under the faculty. The department is also having ‘30 bedded IPD’ to provide patient care to the sick ‘in-patients’ with various dermatological conditions and problems.Apart from health service, the department also runs various academic activities like seminar, journal club and case conference on weekly basis. Regular teaching is being imparted to MBBS students (both theory and clinical), PG students (CFM), dental and nursing students as per the schedule. Various public awareness programs on Leprosy, Vitiligo, Topical Steroid misuse have been conducted by the department, besides participating in community outreach activities through ‘health camps’. During the period of COVID 19 the department has been instrumental in patient care of COVID patients alonside with other departments as well.

  1. IPD beds: 30
  2. OPD: 6 days/week, special clinics of leprosy, Paediatric Dermatology and Connective Tissue Disorders and Dermatosurgery
  3. OT: 6 days/week
  4. Surkhya Clinic- 6 days/week
  5. Specialized services/procedures offered: Free MDT to all leprosy patients, free STD kits to all STD patients.
  6. Special / Advanced surgeries: Vitiligo Surgeries, Platelet rich fibrin in chronic wound patients, PRP for hair loss, Acne scars, Chemical peeling, Dermaroller, nail surgery, scar excision.

  1. Clinical: Weekly Case conference, Journal club, Seminar and Research topics discussion.
  2. Non-clinical: Collection of data on patients with Leprosy, STD and Rare cases.
  3. Community services/ Outreach programs: Regular participation in camps organized by AIIMS, Vitiligo Awareness Day, Public awareness programs on Leprosy, Vitiligo, Psoriasis, misuse of topical steroids
  4. Teaching & Training: Teaching of undergraduate students, interns, PG students of CFM, Dental, nursing students.
